They wanted me to come to Michigan. Me?! To Michigan?! What! I was thrilled to photograph Ashley & Shawn at their hometown in Temperance. You may have remembered these two from their engagement session and the sweet story of where they were getting married and why. They were marrying in Ashley’s grandmother’s backyard, under a big beautiful tree where these two love birds shared their first kiss. Ah, I love when the locations mean something to my couples. It makes my heart just melt right into a puddle. And the best part? Shawn’s parents live right. next. door. I just love everything about these two’s love story!!

With all outdoor weddings, you can’t help but be nervous about the rain. And that week, there was plenty. But it was nothing but beautiful blue skies and a warm, summer breeze. It was perfect. I started at Ashley’s grandma’s where light, love songs filled the house. It was calm, the girls were excited and they were all ready to see their sweet friend walk down the aisle. Across the yard, Shawn’s parents house was buzzing with the funny chatter of boys. It’s always so funny going back and forth to a groom getting ready and a bride. It is always such a different atmosphere in each location! 🙂

Once Ashley came out in her gown, many tears were shed. My favorite was seeing her grandma cry tears of joy at how beautiful her granddaughter looked. So naturally, I started to tear up as well. 😉 The ceremony was bright & sunny as friends and family gathered around this special tree. My favorite part was after the ceremony and after bridal portraits when Ashley & Shawn made their “stamp” on that tree with their initials as they burned it into the wood. It was just the sweetest thing.

Ashley & Shawn, I had the greatest time being alongside of you two as you started this new chapter in your life! I can’t wait to see where this adventure takes you both!
