When I first met Niki, it wasn’t at her & Conor’s engagement session..it was at her brother’s wedding just a few months prior! I felt so honored that Niki’s family loved Michael & Amber’s (Niki’s brother and new sis in law) wedding portraits so much and they wanted me to be back to document another special occasion! So when walking into Niki’s parents home, I was so warmly welcomed and got the best hugs ever!! 🙂

The forecast here in Ohio has been full of rain and on Friday evening, I received a text for flash flood warnings with how much rain we were to expect over the weekend. My heart sank for Niki & Conor, as they had been planning for an outdoor wedding at the beautiful Thorncreek Winery & Gardens venue, but I was so ready to make beautiful portraits despite the rain! And they always say, it’s good luck to have rain on your wedding day! But as I was watching the forecast, the rain was starting to hold off a little longer and longer, so fingers were crossed it could just stay away during the ceremony!

Niki got ready at her parent’s beautiful home on the lake and their home fit so well with Niki & Conor’s rustic, winery venue! But the most special part to the house was the staircase where Niki met her dad for their first look together and it was so touching! It reminded me of the scene from Father of the Bride as Niki walked her way down to her dad. Tears were just flowing from everyone, me included! 😉

As soon as we arrived to the venue, the rain was holding off and we got in as many bridal party portraits as we could before the ceremony and before Niki & Conor would see each other! This venue was so gorgeous and I feel like I could have walked around there a dozen times and found a new beautiful spot each time! And although Niki & Conor didn’t get to marry each other outside, their ceremony under the tent with the twinkling lights above I think was just as beautiful as could be! Also, these two read their own vows to one another and my goodness, it was so romantic and Niki, you were meant to write love notes!

I am so thankful for large overhangs and porches at venues especially on rainy days for weddings! But y’all – I cannot wait for you to see the bridal party portraits! I just loved the spot they stood under! (And maybe I am a little partial to beautiful, big porches and I envy them so!) 😉 Thank you Niki & Conor for braving the elements and trusting me to capture your most precious memories!! I hope you enjoy all of these portraits & your first week of being husband and wife!!!
