You want to document this incredible journey, but when is the best time to book maternity portraits? I get asked this all the time by expecting moms who want to document their pregnancy journey. With years of experience in photographing these precious moments, I’ve found that the 28-34 week window is just right. Why 28-32 Weeks Is the Sweet Spot

The 28-34 week range is typically considered the best time to book your maternity session. Here’s why:

1. The Perfect Bump

By 28 weeks, most likely your belly will be prominently showing, yet you’re likely still comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the session. This stage is ideal for documenting the full glow of pregnancy without the discomfort that often comes later.

2. Comfort and Mobility

During the 28-34 week period, most expectant mothers still feel relatively comfortable. This is important because your comfort will directly impact how relaxed and natural you appear in your portraits. After 34 weeks, some women may begin to feel more physically uncomfortable, making it harder to enjoy the experience fully.

3. Timing Before the Final Stretch

As you approach the final weeks of your pregnancy, there’s always the possibility of your baby arriving earlier than expected. Booking your maternity session between 28-34 weeks ensures you won’t miss the opportunity to document this incredible time in case your little one decides to make an early entrance.

Every Pregnancy Is Unique

While the 28-34 week range is generally ideal, it’s important to remember that every pregnancy is different. Some women may feel comfortable booking their session earlier if their bump is already showing beautifully, while others might prefer to wait a little longer. The key is to choose a time when you feel your best and are excited to document your pregnancy.

Some women start showing earlier, while others may develop a more noticeable bump closer to the third trimester. If you feel that your bump is at its best a little earlier or later than the suggested timeframe, go with what feels right for you.

Are you an expecting mama searching for a North Olmsted Maternity Photographer? I would be more than thrilled to chat with you! I think you’ll find this blog post so fitting!

There’s something truly enchanting about fall – the crisp air, the changing leaves, and the sense of anticipation in the atmosphere. What better way to celebrate the beauty of the season than a maternity session surrounded by the autumnal colors? This time, I had the privilege of photographing a delightful couple, who added so much charm to their portraits with their personalities.

The choice of moody colors for their formal wear was perfectly in sync with the autumn theme. The deep, rich hues of their attire provided a striking contrast against the backdrop of the woodsy park. It served as an excellent choice to set the mood for the session.

Sometimes, the best memories are created when genuine laughter fills the air. This sweet couple was not only radiant but also incredibly funny. Furthermore, their sense of humor made the session a joyous experience, and I couldn’t help but join in on the laughter. Capturing moments of pure, unscripted joy is what makes these sessions so special.

As the fall foliage began to arrive this season, we were fortunate to catch the first glimpses of the leaves turning into brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold. The woodland landscape served as a perfect canvas. And the warm, dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves added a magical touch to our photographs.

As we ventured through the woodsy park, we discovered charming nooks and crannies that were simply irresistible. The couple was drawn to these little pockets of natural beauty, whether it was a sun-drenched clearing or a secluded spot by a gentle stream. Each location added depth and uniqueness to their maternity portraits.

Maternity sessions hold a unique charm of their own and celebrate the beauty of new beginnings. When the elements align, they can add a touch of magic to the photos. During this Vermilion beach maternity session, aside from the chilly winds and cloudy skies, the incredible warmth and love of an expecting couple really shined through these maternity portraits.

We ventured to Main Street Beach, a cherished location, offering a perfect balance of greenery and the serene beauty of Lake Erie’s shore. Lake Erie, with its moody weather, had a different plan in mind for this maternity session. The clouds hung heavy in the sky, and the wind whipped through the beach with an undeniable chill. But for this soon-to-be mom and dad, the elements were no match for their enthusiasm and excitement. They embraced the weather and the environment, ready to capture the essence of their journey.

If you are looking for a vermilion maternity photography session, this post is definitely for you! This session had a surprise at the end that I certainly was not expecting! And I was SO worried I would ruin it!

I had such a great time getting to know these two first time parents while at Schoepfle Gardens. We scouted around the gardens looking for the shadiest spots as it was such a warm & humid summer evening. But despite the heat, these two were up for so many new “posing” prompts that I had been wanting to try and just so silling and happy to jump in. It made for such a great session!

At the beginning of our session, they told me they were having a last date day together where they went and did a ton of fun things just the two of them before baby girl made her arrival. It sounded like such a fun time they were having and they still had more to do after their portraits were completed. Their next stop after pictures was to dinner that dad was surprising to. But that wasn’t the only surprise!

As I began to wrap up their session and get just a few more of mama alone in the evening glow at Schoepfle Gardens, Dad told me he was going to propose to her that evening! What a special day for them! I was SO nervous that I was going to accidently spill the beans after he told me this but I made it through! Ha! I could not wait though to see them at their newborn session to hear all about it!

Schoepfle Garden Maternity Session

This schoepfle garden maternity session is extra sweet for me. This darling family, I have had the privilege of photographing them before with their eldest babe. I came back again to photograph mama’s second pregnancy and their last few weeks as a family of three.

Schoepfle Gardens was such a popular location for my sessions this year and it never disappoints with it’s variety in backdrop options. I can always find a new nook & cranny to photograph in. Or even sometimes, the same spot but it look completely different as the flowers bloom and change month to month.

At the time, mom and dad did not know what they were having and would be waiting to find out the gender once the little babe made their arrival. They did this with their oldest and I always admired their strength in not finding out! I wanted to do this myself with our second but it was just too much excitement for me! 😉
