In the heart of a Cleveland suburb, amidst the whispering pines and the crisp winter air, I recently had the pleasure of capturing a unique blend of joy and milestones. This Cleveland Tree Farm Milestone session unfolded early in the morning at a charming tree farm, where the magic of a first birthday seamlessly intertwined with the warmth of a family portrait session. The rows of evergreens created a picturesque scene, framing the family in a winter wonderland that perfectly mirrored the festive season.
With the family’s love for the outdoors, the decision to photography both the first birthday milestone photography & family christmas portraits at a tree farm was a natural choice. The lush evergreen backdrop not only complemented their outdoor lifestyle but also added a touch of holiday enchantment, given that baby girl’s birthday fell close to Christmas.
Cleveland Tree Farm Milestone
Mom’s loving touch was evident in every detail, including the homemade smash cake she crafted for her precious baby girl. The joy on the little one’s face as she dove into her cake added an extra layer of sweetness to the photographs, capturing the essence of a first birthday celebration.
Timing is crucial when photographing little ones, and the early morning session proved to be a strategic choice. Before the morning naps were beckoning, we navigated through the tree farm, capturing moments of laughter, exploration, and genuine family connection. Milestone sessions, typically lasting 20 to 30 minutes, are a perfect window to hold a toddler’s attention. The fleeting nature of these sessions allows for the genuine, unscripted moments that define a family’s unique story.
As the sun cast its golden hue on the tree farm, I couldn’t help but reflect on the magic of the moment. Combining a first birthday celebration and family photography at the tree farm encapsulated the essence of this outdoor-loving family and created timeless memories that will be cherished for years to come.

As a parent, there’s nothing quite like witnessing the growth and uniqueness of each of your children. Recently, I had tested a “new to me” photography adventure that aimed to capture the essence of my two boys, despite their six-year age gap. This session was a celebration of my youngest son’s six-month milestone and an opportunity to try out a trending photography style known as “personality portraits.” Set in the picturesque Lake Arts Studio, we had the perfect canvas to showcase the beauty, charm, and individuality of my children, free from distracting elements.
Photography has the remarkable power to capture not just the faces but the very souls of its subjects. My goal for these portraits were to go beyond traditional portraits and delve into the world of “personality portraits.” These unique photos, often in black and white, focus on showcasing a child’s individuality and charm by eliminating any distractions from the background. The studio’s serene and unadorned backdrop allowed my boys to take center stage. This clean and simple canvas was the perfect backdrop to highlight their personalities, expressions, and unique features. It was all about them, unencumbered by any distractions.
Cleveland Personality Portraits
The session was not just about capturing their physical features but also celebrating my youngest son’s six-month milestone. Each gurgle, gummy grin, and thoughtful expression was beautifully immortalized in these photos. The journey from babyhood to childhood is a remarkable one, and it’s a privilege getting to document my own sweet boys. Despite the age gap, my boys are distinct individuals with their own unique traits and charms. The personality portraits captured their essence—my eldest’s silly and charming spirit and my youngest’s endearing innocence. These portraits are a testament to their individuality and the love that binds them together.

The first year of your baby’s life goes by ever so quickly. Our little T, is currently 9 months old and I promise you, I blinked after I had him at the hospital and here we are. In the moment, it feels like the days are going by slower than ever. Especially at night. But before you know it, you wake up one morning and they are turning a year old. I’ve been trying to figure out how to bottle up & freeze time – if I figure it out, I promise I will let you know!
This sweet little one, I have had the joy of photographing when his mama was pregnant with him, when he was a newborn and now, for his first birthday! (Plus I photographed his mom & dad’s wedding day too! This family is so special to me!) It has been such a thrill getting to watch him grow in his first year!
